Can FinBoard build a custom P&L from QuickBooks Online?

Can I reorganize a QuickBooks Online P&L?

Yes. FinBoard can present a QuickBooks Online Profit and Loss (P&L) with renamed, regrouped, nested, and reordered lines while keeping the source chart of accounts unchanged.

Create a named reporting mapping, then apply it to the report. See Regroup Accounts and Build and reuse a custom monthly P&L for the complete workflow.

Which income and expense lines can I move or combine?

Yes, within accounting-compatible sections. Income and Other Income accounts can move or combine within the positive-polarity structure; COGS, Expenses, and Other Expenses can do the same within the negative-polarity structure.

No, an income account and an expense account cannot share an ordinary mapped line. Use a calculation when the result needs to span those sections.

Can several accounts feed one reporting line?

Yes. Several compatible QuickBooks accounts can feed one reporting group, such as multiple product-revenue accounts under Product Revenue or several direct-cost accounts under Product Fulfillment Costs.

Set up the group and map the accounts in Regroup Accounts.

Can one calculated line combine income and selected expenses?

Yes, with this distinction: it is a calculated presentation line, not an ordinary account mapping. For example, Product contribution = Product Revenue - Product Fulfillment Costs combines a revenue line and a cost line while preserving their separate accounting meaning.

You can add a Google Sheets formula yourself. A calculated KPI is also supported in Google Sheets, but custom calculated KPIs currently need FinBoard-assisted setup. See Add calculated lines and formulas to a FinBoard report.

Is the customized format saved for future months?

Yes. Named mappings and the reports that use them are saved. Refresh updates the QuickBooks-fed values without silently changing the mapping selected for the report. Manually inserted Google Sheets formula rows and columns remain in the workbook after a refresh.

For a new monthly workbook, use Copy and Link spreadsheet so its FinBoard reports can continue refreshing independently. The end-to-end steps are in Build and reuse a custom monthly P&L.

Can FinBoard pull a QuickBooks budget for Budget vs Actual?

Yes. FinBoard can read a Profit and Loss budget maintained in QuickBooks and show Budget vs Actual, variance, and over/under using the same named mapping as the actuals in the report.

QuickBooks budgets require the standard fiscal calendar. For a custom calendar, use a FinBoard budget built on that calendar. See Use a budget in reports.

Can companies with different charts of accounts be consolidated?

Yes. Each company’s accounts are mapped into a shared group reporting structure before the amounts are combined, so the companies do not need identical QuickBooks charts of accounts.

See Consolidation Overview for the setup and reporting flow.

Can I see each company and the consolidated total?

Yes. Consolidated reports can show company-level columns alongside the group total, so you can compare the members and the combined result in one report.

See Consolidated reports for company columns and the consolidated total.

Are intercompany eliminations supported?

Yes. FinBoard supports configured eliminations for the relevant intercompany accounts in a consolidated group.

Eliminations need to be configured and reviewed; they are not an automatic guarantee that every intercompany difference is resolved. Set up consolidation to configure the relevant accounts, then use Consolidated reports to apply or show eliminations in the report.

Does FinBoard change anything in QuickBooks?

No. Reporting mappings, calculations, budgets in reports, and consolidations change how FinBoard presents and compares the data; they do not rename, regroup, or otherwise modify the source chart of accounts in QuickBooks.
